Summer is almost over

Wow it has been such a busy summer I have not had time to post anything. We have been working on remodeling our house and not much time for anything else as we are doing the work ourselves.
We have collected and pinned a few bugs this summer but no pics as of yet mabey this winter when things slow down on the remodeling front we will be able to get some pics on.
Oh yeah the pretty caterpillars we collected last summer that went to cocoon didn't make it. I'm not sure exactly what happened. Although my theory is that they were inside so didn't get the moisture they would have gotten if they had been outside. I don't know... just a guess.

getting warmer

Spring is definitely on it's way. We've been getting warmer and warmer... although we did have a freak snow last week, it snowed all day long. Anywho if our winter hybrination moths made it through then we should be seeing something soon. I sure hope so. We worked so hard and learned so much to keep the larve alive that it would be a shame for them to have died.
I'll post again as soon as we have something.

Cool bug body

Today was a little warmer so I took a walk outside and spotted a shiny thing on the ground. Being ever curious I took a closer look. Low and behold I found a Rainbow Scarab (Phanaeus vindex). This isn't the one I collected, but it is identical.
